Musk Says Boring Company Eyes Austin-San Antonio Hyperloop Precursor

Elon Musk has indicated that The Boring Company is exploring a precursor project to a hyperloop connection between Austin and San Antonio, according to a report from Межа. Новини України. The statement points to renewed interest from Musk's tunneling venture in high-speed transit concepts linking major Texas cities.

What Musk Said

Per the report, Musk confirmed that The Boring Company is looking into an early-stage or precursor initiative that could eventually support hyperloop-style travel between Austin, where several of Musk's companies including Tesla and The Boring Company have significant operations, and San Antonio, a major city further south in the state. The summary does not detail the specific engineering approach, timeline, or funding structure for the project.

Context for The Boring Company

The Boring Company, founded by Musk, has focused on building tunnel infrastructure for transportation, including projects such as the Las Vegas Convention Center Loop. A hyperloop precursor between two of Texas's largest metropolitan areas would represent an extension of the company's ambitions beyond localized tunnel loops toward longer-distance, high-speed regional transit. Austin has increasingly become a hub for Musk's business activities, making the city a logical starting point for such exploratory work.

Limited Details Available

The original report does not provide additional specifics such as projected costs, construction timelines, technical specifications, or official confirmation from The Boring Company beyond Musk's remarks. As with many early-stage Musk-affiliated transportation announcements, further details would be expected to emerge as the project, if it proceeds, moves from concept toward a more defined proposal.
