VIN Assigned
A 17-character VIN appears in your account. This means your car is built or in transit. Delivery is typically 1-4 weeks away.
Delivery Scheduled
You receive a text/email to schedule delivery. Choose pickup at a Tesla center or home delivery where available.
Vehicle Delivered
Inspect your vehicle, sign paperwork, and drive home. The Tesla app becomes your key.
Estimated Delivery Timelines
Model 3
2-6 weeks for standard configurations. Highland refresh models may have longer wait times due to high demand. Rear-wheel drive ships fastest.
Model Y
2-8 weeks depending on trim. Long Range and Performance trims from Giga Texas. Juniper refresh available early 2026.
Model S / Model X
4-12 weeks. Built exclusively at Fremont factory. Plaid variants may take longer. Lower production volume means variable wait times.
Cybertruck
6-12+ weeks. Built only at Giga Texas. Foundation Series and Cyberbeast configurations in highest demand. Wait times decreasing as production ramps.
Delivery Day Checklist
Inspect your Tesla carefully before signing. Tesla offers a 72-hour/100-mile return window, but documenting issues at pickup ensures faster resolution.

- Check all panels for dents, scratches, and paint defects
- Verify panel gaps are even and consistent
- Inspect all glass for chips or cracks
- Check wheels for curb damage and tire condition
- Test all doors, trunk, and frunk open/close properly
Interior & Tech
- Pair your phone as a key via the Tesla app
- Test all seats, mirrors, and steering adjustments
- Verify touchscreen responsiveness and all cameras work
- Check Autopilot/FSD activation matches your order
- Confirm charging port opens and mobile connector included
Pro Tips for Faster Delivery
Choose popular configurations: Standard colors (white, black) and common trims ship fastest because Tesla batches production. Unique colors or rare options may add weeks to your wait.
Complete financing early: Have your loan pre-approved or payment ready before VIN assignment. Delays in financing are the #1 cause of pushed delivery dates. Tesla partners with several lenders but third-party financing often offers better rates.
Trade-in process: If trading in a vehicle, Tesla provides an offer valid for 30 days. Get quotes from Carvana, CarMax, and local dealers to compare. You can change your trade-in decision up until delivery day.
End of quarter: Tesla often accelerates deliveries in the last 2-3 weeks of each quarter (March, June, September, December) to meet delivery targets. Ordering mid-quarter may result in faster delivery as the quarter end approaches.
