What FSD Costs in 2026

Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is priced at $8,000 as a one-time purchase or $99 per month as a subscription in the United States. The subscription requires no long-term commitment, which makes it the popular way to try FSD before committing to the full purchase.

Basic Autopilot (traffic-aware cruise control plus lane keeping) remains included free on every new Tesla. The gap between the two is everything FSD adds in the city: traffic-light handling, intersections, unprotected turns and automatic navigation from A to B.

What FSD Can Do — and What It Can't

On current software, a Tesla with FSD can navigate city streets and highways end to end: it reads traffic lights and stop signs, makes turns at intersections, changes lanes, and parks itself. Many owners regularly complete entire commutes with no interventions.

What it cannot do is remove your responsibility. FSD is officially named "Supervised" because the driver must watch the road and be ready to take over at any moment — the in-cabin camera enforces attention.
